The Village of Lombard invites residents to join in and help preserve natural habitats along the Great Western Trail and the Illinois Prairie Path. Bring friends, family, a service group or come by yourself to be a part of this team.
Volunteers have been working since 2012 to remove unwanted buckthorn and other invasive plant species from the Illinois Prairie Path and the Great Western Trail within Lombard. These are some of the most visited trails in the area, and will soon be filled with beautiful fall colors. Spend the day outside with friends, family, or a community group, while helping to keep Lombard clean and beautiful for residents and visitors.
Invasive species of plants spread quickly, and can take over the native plant life of an area if they are not removed. They are a major threat to forest preserves and other natural areas. They form dense thickets that crowd trees and smother wildflowers.
Be a part of the effort by removing invasive species, and picking up garbage on November 14th, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Contact email@example.com for more information and to sign up.
