The Village of Lombard’s 10th annual Senior Fair is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The Senior Fair will take place at the Lombard Community Building at 433 E. St. Charles Rd. in Lombard.
Popular services and vendors available at the fair will include flu shots from Osco, blood pressure readings from the Lombard Fire Department and massages from National University of Health Sciences. State and County services along with local agencies will also be on hand with useful information for seniors.
“We look forward to providing this easy and convenient way for our seniors to find out useful information,” said Trustee Robyn Pike, Chair of the Village’s Community Relations Committee, which helps to organize the yearly event. “The fair presents community based options and services, all in one stop. We encourage Lombard residents and visitors of all ages to come by the fair.” Community Relations Committee members Ahmed Ali, Pamela Bedard, Michael Ledonne, Anthony Pacilli, Gladys Piper, Sharon Vish, and Barbara Ware help in the planning and staffing of the event.
The announcement of the 2015 “Senior of the Man and Senior Woman of the Year” award winners will take place at approximately 10 a.m. The winning seniors will be given the opportunity to ride in the 2016 Lilac Time Parade next May.
There is currently a waiting list for participants for this year’s Senior Fair, according to Avis Meade, Communications Coordinator and staff liaison to the Community Relations Committee. Anyone with questions or a participation request may contact Meade at (630) 620-5718.
