At approximately 5:34 a.m. on Friday, July 10th, the Lombard Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 21W104 22nd Street in Lombard.
A resident of the home reported that she woke up to see smoke coming from a vent in the two story single family structure and called 911. The family was then able to evacuate the house. Upon arrival firefighters found smoke coming from the 2nd floor attic. According to Battalion Chief Al Greene, the fire was upgraded to a Special Alarm and additional firefighters were called to the scene. The origin and cause of the fire remains under investigation. There were no injuries reported. The estimated damage to contents and the building is over $45,000.
Lombard was assisted by Downers Grove, Glendale Heights, Oak Brook, Oak Brook Terrace and Villa Park Departments as well as Addison, Lisle-Woodridge and York Fire Protection Districts. The DuPage County Sheriff’s Department also assisted.
