Construction Updates

9/14/17 - Today the contractor is placing concrete pavement along the north side of Maple. The contractor will then saw cut the pavement for contraction/expansion joints, after the concrete has set but while still soft enough to cut. The saw cutting should be completed by midnight tonight. Noise will be temporary as the operation moves along.
9/13/17 - To expedite the construction on Chase, the contractor will remove the driveway aprons as well as curb and gutter on the west side of Chase Thursday, September 14th. Gravel will be placed to provide temporary access for the day. On Friday, September 15th, the contractor will place concrete driveway aprons on both sides of Chase as well as curb and gutter on the west side of Chase. Residents on both sides of Chase will need to be out of their driveway and off the street by 7:00 AM on Friday morning until next Wednesday, September 20th. Please note that driveway aprons will be replaced with concrete even if you currently have an asphalt apron.
9/6/17 - Starting September 7th at 9:00 AM, the new pavement on the south half of Maple (Chase to Westmore) will open to eastbound traffic and the north half of Maple will be closed for pavement construction. All driveways on the south side of Maple and the east side of Chase will be accessible until those driveway aprons are replaced. Notice will be distributed before those aprons are replaced.
8/23/17 - Tomorrow, August 24, the contractor will place concrete pavement along south side of Maple as noted in the previous notice. The contractor will then saw cut the pavement for contraction/expansion joints. The saw cutting must be done right away because the concrete will harden and crack if it is not done in time. The saw cutting should be completed by 4:00 am in the morning. Noise from the saw cutting overnight may be expected.
8/22/17 - On Wednesday, 8/23, the contractor will begin concrete work on south side of Maple and Chase. Work includes placing the steel reinforcement on Wednesday, 8/23, concrete pavement on Thursday (weather permitting, otherwise on Friday), and then driveway aprons, curb and gutter on south Maple and Chase on Tuesday, 8/29. Eastbound traffic on Maple (Chase to Westmore) and north-south traffic across the intersections will be temporarily closed from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Thursday (Aug 24). Please do not step on the fresh concrete until 24 hours after placement.
7/31/17 - The intersection of Maple Avenue and Ahrens Court will be closed by the contractor from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Tuesday, August 1st. The water main will also be shut off for a few hours to allow the sewer to be installed, starting at 9:00 AM.

6/22/17 - Eastbound Maple between Chase and Westmore-Meyers will now be closed one block at a time Monday-Saturday, 7AM-5PM for the construction on Maple.  Westbound Maple will also remain closed to all traffic from Chase to Westmore-Meyers.  Motorists should follow the detour route shown below. Local residents will still be able to access their driveways, and mail and garbage service will be unaffected.  Westmore Woods Park remains accessible.
6/14/17 - Beginning Friday, 6/16, westbound Maple will be closed to ALL traffic and the eastbound lane will be open to local traffic only. The eastbound lane of Maple will remain open to local traffic ONLY for the duration of the construction. The detour will be in effect through November 2016.

6.17 Maple and Chase Closure Detour

6/5/17 - The contractor has begun saw cutting the street in advance of the project start. Chase was completed last week and today they have started saw cutting on Maple Street. At the end of this week construction vehicles and equipment will be delivered and staged on North Broadway at Chase.

Weather permitting construction will begin on Monday, June 12th. The installation of the storm sewer will start on Chase then continue onto Maple working their way east.
