Construction Updates

11/27/17 - Due to an isolated area of poor soils encountered, the project had paused but will resume tomorrow with the installation of four helical piers to support one side of the forthcoming wet well for the pump station.
10/30/17 - Starting today, the Village will be continuously running a mobile pump and generator for approximately 2-3 days at North Broadway and Chase.  It may need to run longer based on additional inflow of groundwater and rainfall.  The storm sewer has been blocked to retain water and the overflow has been safely diverted until the new pump station at North Broadway and Fairfield is operational.
10/24/17 - The contractor will start constructing the pump station on North Broadway tomorrow (October 25), weather permitting. The entire project is anticipated to be completed in February, pending weather. The westbound lane of North Broadway from Grace to Edgewood will normally remain open, while the eastbound lane will be closed to traffic. However, the westbound lane may occasionally also be closed to through-traffic due to safety concerns. Driveways will remain accessible, although there may be delays due to construction movements. Refuse, recycling and yard waste services will be uninterrupted although collection may be as early at 6:00 a.m. in order to avoid construction activity.
8/8/17 - The contractor is now mobilizing to construct the pump station and force main. Pending adverse weather and other unforeseen delays, the force main pipes will be staged on the south parkway along North Broadway on Wednesday, 8/9. Excavation at the east side of Grace Street for auger pits will take place on August 11th, following by installation of the force main starting August 14th.

Grace Street traffic will be shifted for the construction between Hickory and North Broadway starting on August 14th. Two-way traffic will be maintained but the west side of Grace will be posted “no parking”.

Eastbound North Broadway will be closed during construction starting the week of August 14th. Westbound traffic will be maintained through the entire construction period.

7/18/17 - The project delay has been due to the need to relocate overhead wires and also to receive the 30-in pipe for the force main. The work on the pump station on North Broadway will begin as soon as ComEd and Comcast raise their wires, which is anticipated by the end of July. The force main on Grace will start after the 30-in pipe is delivered, which anticipated in September.
