Youth Leadership

Village of Lombard Youth Leadership Program is Accepting Applications!

The Village of Lombard would like to invite Lombard students ages 13 - 18, interested in learning about a career in the government or public service to come to Village Hall for a chance to learn from staff and elected officials. This program may also serve as an internship for college applications.

The program will take place over the course over three, 2-hour sessions on Thursday nights at Lombard Village Hall. In the first two classes, leaders from the Village Manager’s Office, Finance, Community Development, Public Works, Police and Fire Departments will give brief, interactive presentations about their specific field, give tours, and answer questions from students. In the third and final session, students will get a chance to meet with the Village President and Board of Trustees before the regular board meeting. Students will attend the meeting to observe the local government process and will be presented with a certificate of completion for the program.

The class size will be kept to 10 or less, to allow students one-on-one attention from Village Hall staff. Staff will also share contact information in order to serve as future mentors as students apply for colleges and eventually transition into careers. *Please note the class size must reach a minimum of 7 students in order to occur.

To apply, please complete the application and return to Avis Meade, Village of Lombard Communications Coordinator by Friday, March 25. Applicants chosen for the class will be contacted with their applications are received.
