The Community Development Department's Building Division is responsible for the various phases of building construction within the Village of Lombard. The Building Division initiates the permit processing system with the intake of all permit applications, and the routing of these applications to the appropriate departmental divisions for the start of the plan review process. The Building Division handles permits on private property such as signs, fire, fill and grade, new buildings, additions, accessory structures and alternations as examples. If you live in a building or area with a Homeowners or Condo Association please check with your Board and Management Company before you begin any work. They may require additional approvals above and beyond Village Code provisions.
Upon completion and approval of the plan review process, the Building Division issues the required permits, and conducts scheduled on-site inspections, during all construction phases. The Building Division is also responsible for Accessibility complaints, administering the elevator inspection program, and issuing special event permits.
Fees are calculated by permit type at the end of permit review.
