Bike Patrol

Overview
Bike Patrol
In 1990, the Bicycle Patrol Program was started by the Lombard Police Department. The primary mission of the Bicycle Patrol Program is to increase officers presence in the community, build positive interaction with the citizens of Lombard and crime prevention.

During 2007, 19 police bike officers from the patrol unit on each of the three shifts were involved in the Lilac Parade, Taste of Lombard and other events including block parties and patrolling the parks, pool area, the Prairie Path and Great Western Trail.

While on bicycles, officers investigated reports of suspicious activity, participated in gang intervention and patrolled other areas including businesses, shopping districts, apartment complexes and residential neighborhoods.
