The information below on recycling events is provided as a service to the residents of the Village of Lombard. Inclusion is not intended as an endorsement of any of these companies or events, nor has the Village purposely excluded any additional parties.

Lombard's Annual Recycling Extravaganza

Join us Saturday, September 19, 2015 for the Village's Annual Recycling Extravaganza! Bring your unwanted items to be safely recycled! 

Bring unwanted items, including electronics, to The Village of Lombard’s annual Recycling Extravaganza, Saturday, September 19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Village Hall, 255 E. Wilson Avenue.

The items that will be accepted for recycling: wood (painted, stained, treated and untreated), vinyl siding, electronics, car and marine batteries, scrap metal (bent hangers, old metal pots, swing sets, lawn furniture, gutters, washers and dryers, stoves, hot water heaters and dish washers), propane and other pressure tanks, and books of all types.  

Recyclable electronics  include computers, modems, printers, monitors, drives, mouse, keyboards, software, calculators, telephones, copy machines, pagers, TVs, VCR's, cameras, humidifiers, microwave ovens, power tools, vacuums, glow dryers, irons and more. 

Cellular phones will be collected, working or not, as well as phone batteries and chargers. They will be donated to Family Shelter Services, a local organization that assists victims of domestic violence. 

  • Several community organizations will also be collecting items for recycling or reuse including:
  • Goodwill Industries will collect used clothing and furniture in any condition
  • Lions Club will collect eye glasses, hearing aids and old metal keys
  • VFW members will accept retired American Flags
  • Glenbard East Ecology Club will collect flower pots
  • Rotary Club will collect bicycles, crutches, non-motorized wheel chairs and gently used shoes (no high heels, please) 
This event does not include a Household Chemical waste collection.  

Book Recycling Opportunity
Bring unwanted books to the book rescue where books of all kinds will also be accepted. Residents are invited to take donated books home with them. Unwanted books will be recycled by Combined Resources International.
